Labour market projections and time allocation in Myanmar: Application of a new computable general equilibrium (CGE) model

Myanmar has, in recent years, strengthened its focus on human capital as a development pillar, and introduced legislation adopted conventions child labour. But exploitation continues, including use of forced labour by the military children performing hazardous work. Moreover, faces rapidly closing window opportunity within which to train workforce meet future challenges declining population growth an ageing society. To address twin market needs, we study comprehensive stylized education reform package for workers aged 10–14. We employ newly developed dynamically recursive 2021–40 computable general equilibrium model analyse economic household income distribution impacts combined work elimination programme allowing current achieve same educational attainment wider society over 15-year transition period.
